Less About Sunday

1. Worship

Traditional Worship

Our 8:30 am worship hour is based on a more traditional style of worship.  It includes songs from the hymnal, ensembles, and traditional elements of worship such as the Lord's Prayer, creeds, and responsive readings.  We welcome persons of all ages, and children are invited to remain in the worship service.  A nursery is available for infants to pre-schoolers. The service lasts approximately one hour, and dress is casual to business casual.

Blue Jeans Worship

Our 11:00 am worship hour is a contemporary worship time that includes praise & worship songs, dramas, videos, and more.  Children are welcome to remain in the service, or they may attend one of the children's services (below). The service lasts approximately one hour and dress is very casual (blue jeans really are welcome!)

ROMP (Raising Our Maker's Praise)

During the 11:00 am worship hour, pre-schoolers have a special time of worship that is geared specifically for their needs.  All children are welcome to remain in the sanctuary, but if you would like for your preschooler to attend ROMP, bring them to the HolyLands classroom located off the Fellowship Hall. They may also come to their own LIFE group at 9:45 am, and the teachers will lead them to the appropriate place when it is time for ROMP.  Communion is served to the children in ROMP when we share it in the Blue Jeans service.

Children's Worship

During the 11:00 worship hour, children in K-3rd grade are welcome to remain in the sanctuary, or they may attend Children's Worship. This is a high-energy worship time that includes music, dancing, an offering and a sermon geared toward their ages. They are led out of the worship service   following the praise songs at the beginning of the Blue Jean Service, and they meet in the Chapel. Children in Children's Worship return to the sanctuary to receive Holy Communion as a group and are then dismissed to their parents after worship.

Nursing Home Worship

Each month, volunteers from the church visit several area nursing homes and share in a worship service.  The sermons are brought by pastors and lay speakers, and they share in gospel hymns and Holy Communion.  In Jacksonville, we visit The Towers, Woodland Hills, Greenbriar, and Transitions (at North Metro).  Contact the church office to learn about specific times and locations.

Holy Communion

We normally have communion on the first Sunday of each month at both the 8:35 and 10:55 worship times.  In the United Methodist Church, we consider our communion table an "open table," which means that everyone is welcome to share in communion, regardless of your background or affiliation.  If you feel that Christ invites you to join us, we welcome you!
